Sharel Dae (Higginbotham) Mawby, 81, of Autumn Terrace Care Facility, in Raytown, Missouri, formerly from Independence, Missouri, passed away on March 24, 2023. Sharel was born on March 4, 1942, to Harvey and Lucy (Camerlynck) Higginbotham at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Sharel worked as a home childcare provider from 1981 – 1991. She was a deli worker at HyVee. She then worked for several years as a custom framer at Hobby Lobby. In 1958 she married Leonard James Parvin in Miami, Oklahoma. Sharel and “Jim” went on to have 3 children, James Michael, Eric Todd, and Christopher Lee. In 2001 she married Ray Mawby.
She was an avid reader, especially history. She participated in Civil War reenactments for a few years. Due to her love of sewing she became the seamstress for many Civil War reenactors. Her biggest sewing project was making a wedding dress for her niece, Hillari.
Sharel was preceded in death by son, James Michael Parvin; husband, Ray Mawby; and son Christopher Lee Parivin. She is survived by her son, Eric Parvin, of Independence; sister, Jandra Birkes, of Buckner; brother, Gregg Higginbotham and wife Gail, of Independence. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
