Donna M. May, 55, Independence, MO., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at the Medical Center of Independence.
Donna was born July 20, 1949, in Independence, Mo., to Lyle and Mildred (Freeman) Turner, Sr. She was a graduate of Truman High School and also attended Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. She married Harlan May on June 14, 1969. At the time of her death, she was employed by The Examiner and worked in the Independence office as composing manager. During her more than 20-year association with The Examiner, Donna was a newspaper carrier, worked in the mailroom, was a camera operator, and a graphic designer in the Blue Springs office, before being promoted to composing manager. She was a dedicated and loyal employee who treated her co-workers like family and will be dearly missed by all.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Lyle Turner Jr.
She is survived by her husband Harlan May, three daughters, Dawn (Rob) Parvin, Tina (Jeff) Brodzinski, and Joann May, and one granddaughter, Alayna, all of Independence; two sisters, Martha (Arnold) Viebrock, of Lexington, Mo., and Virginia (Jack ) West, of Lake Isabella, Mich.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Donna will be remembered for her love of family, her keen sense of humor, and her ability to extend a loving, helpful hand to any and all.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the Carson-Speaks Funeral Home, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, (816) 252-7900. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Graveside services following at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
