Virginia L. Mayes

Virginia Lee (Rone) Hill-Mayes 72 of Independence, MO died August 28, 2003 at Rosewood Health Center, Independence, MO. Virginia Lee Rone was born April 16, 1931 in Polo, Caldwell County, MO the 6th of seven children born to Henry Harrison & Merle Louise (Orr) Rone. Virginia married John Robert Hill September 10, 1948 in Caldwell County, MO. She later married Bothus Selby "Red� Mayes, September 26, 1964 in Buchanan County, MO. After raising her children Virginia worked for seven years at Stone Church Preschool as an active room teacher from 1969-1976, and for fifteen years at Comprehensive Mental Health as a Tech from 1977-1992. Family members that preceded Virginia in death are: sisters Dorothy Ann Rone and Marjorie Katherine (Rone) Atkinson, and her 1st husband J. R. Hill. Survivors include her husband, Bothus Selby "Red� Mayes of Independence, her children Karen Walker & husband Dennis of Hamilton, Donna Lunnon & husband Greg of Oak Grove, John Mayes & wife Mary of Belton, Linda Rosewaren & husband Keith of Independence, Kevin Rock & wife Jan of Smithville, Virgninia Lea Fattig & husband Brian of St. Joseph, and Laura Mayes of North Hollywood, CA; siblings Kenneth Rone & his wife Georgia of Springfield, MO, Norma & her husband Virgil McKee of Independence, Dean Rone & his wife Deloris of Springfield, MO, and Helen Schaefer of Fountain Valley, CA; nineteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 30, 2003, at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO
