Lela D. Mayfield, 96 of Independence passed away Thu. Jul 12, 2007 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am Mon. Jul 16 at the Carson- Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Indep. MO with the visitation being held from one hour prior to the service. Burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mayfield was born on Mar. 21, 1911 to James and Elsie (Caselman) McGee in Windsor, MO. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, doll making and traveling. She was a member of the Buckner Restoration church. Mrs. Mayfield was preceded in death by two husbands, Fred Knauff and Orley Mayfield and by a son, Frederick L. Knauff, a daughter, Shirley Knauff and nine siblings. She is survived by a son, Gerald Knauf and wife Patricia of Independence, MO; two daughters, Beverly Conoley and husband Ammon of Buckner, MO and Mary Northrup of Independence, MO. Eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
