Edna Marie Mayhew, 86 of Independence, MO passed away Fri. Mar 18, 2005 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 10:00 am, Tue. Mar 22, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, 400 W. Maple, Indep. MO. Visitation will be from 7 - 8:00 pm Monday at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Indep. MO. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Wed, Mar 23 at Plainville Cemetery, Plainville, KS. Contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church Organ Fund. Mrs. Mayhew was born on Feb 28, 1919 to Thure and Margaret Palmberg in Zurich, KS. She was a loving and caring homemaker and cherished time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting and keeping the history of the families ancestry. She had previously been a bookkeeper/manager of Skogmo�s in Plainville and later had been a catalog manager with J.C. Penney�s in Alice, TX. She was a professional seamstress, sewing for a host of family and friends. Mrs. Mayhew and her husband Howard had been members of the First United Methodist Church of Independence since 1978 and had been active in the Maritus Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Albert and Fred. She is survived by her husband of almost sixty-six years, Howard Mayhew of Independence. A son, Roger Mayhew and wife Claretta of Kansas City, MO. A daughter, Sue Snow and husband Ron of Independence. Five grandchildren, Catherine Franssens, Richard Mayhew, Angie Langhauser, Stephen Mayhew and Sarah Schraml. Six great grandchildren, Seth, Nathan, MacKenna, Cara, Gabriel and Drew. One sister, Helen Darnell of Topeka, KS.
