Jay Mcahan

Jay Gorham McAhan, 80, of Osceola, MO, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013. A visitation will be held from 6:00 -8:00p.m. Thursday, November 7th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 8th at the chapel. Burial will be in Lone Jack, MO. Jay was born February 10, 1933 to Gorham and Ethel (Hammer) McAhan. He was raised in Independence, MO and graduated from William Chrisman in 1951. Afterwards he enlisted in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves. Jay proudly served his country in the Korean Conflict and retired after over thirty years in the service as an air plane mechanic with the 442 Fighter Squadron at Richards Gebauer Air Force Base. After retirement he purchased acreage in Osceola, MO. He loved living on his “farm”, hosting friends and family during hunting season, and giving his great-grandchildren rides on “Grandpa Jay’s” Gator. The family says this, “Dad, Grandpa Jay, will be missed by all of us but we know in our hearts he has joined his beloved childhood sweetheart and wife.” Jay was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Stephen Gorham McAhan and wife, JoAnn McAhan. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, sister; Margaret Baker and Barbara Dye; sons, Aaron McAhan (Maria), Kevin McAhan, and John McAhan; daughter, Julie Mannen (Ken). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, whom he was fiercely proud of; Tara Zuber (Andy), Drew Mannen (Erin), Stephanie, AJ, Kealee, Chandler, Connor, Brianna, and Jacob McAhan; and four great-grandchildren; Preston, Quentin, Harley, and Zoey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
