L.J. "Bud� McBride, 85, of Independence, MO, passed away, Friday, December 31, 2004 at his residence in Independence. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the Bonner Springs Community of Christ in Bonner Springs, KS. Mr. McBride donated his body to the University of Kansas Medical Center. Bud was born April 13, 1919 in Laguna Hills, CA to L.J. and Claudia (Dungan) McBride. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII from 1939-45 and was in the Battle of the Buldge. After the war he went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad and later worked for a steel mill and lumber mill and owned his own lumberyard in California. While in California he was the president of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce from 1965-66 and a life member of the Lyons Club. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Independence at the New Walnut Park and most recently the Bonner Springs Congregation of the Community of Christ. He spent his life trying to help children, he was a foster parent, and very active in Drumm Farm. He refurbished bicycles and donated them to Drumm Farm and one year bought every child there a new pair of shoes. He was married to Caroline Barwise on February 13, 1971, she survives of the home. Other survivors include; a 2 sons, Lawrence Jefferson McBride of Laguna Hills, CA and Gregory Eugene McBride of Midway City, CA; a daughter, Mary Jacinth Cisneros of Anaheim, Ca; a sister, Mary Jo Breshears; step children, Ray Edward Dickensheets, Donna Carol Maginness, Anne Elizabeth Hadley, and Paula Gail Zarrillo all of Independence, MO; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
