Martha McBroome, 86, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, February 6, 2006. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Scholarship Fund, 125 South Pleasant, Independence, MO 64050. Martha was born September 7, 1919 in Kearney, MO to A.R. and Nannie D. (Winn) Logan. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1937 and attended Kansas City University. Martha worked as a supervisor for Montgomery Ward and Co. and for the Independence School District. Mrs. McBroome was married to Ray McBroome on November 23, 1946 and they were married for 56 years prior to his death in 2002. Martha was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence, MO for almost 80 years. She loved to volunteer, spending her time in the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and PTA. Martha worked with the youth at church and held offices in the Christian Women�s Fellowship. She supported the Truman Library and the restoration of the Railroad Depot in Independence. After her retirement from the Independence School District, she volunteered at the Jackson County Historical Society Archive for 19 years and at Truman Medical Center-Lakewood for 23 years. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray, her parents, one brother, Russell Logan and her sisters Edna Logan, Virginia Sebolt and Nancy Hamilton. She is survived by her son Gregory McBroome and his wife Connie of Parker, CO, daughter Martha Cuppy and her husband Dwight of Lee�s Summit, MO; four grandchildren Heather Hulett, Clint Johnson, John McBroome and Mira McBroome; one brother Winn Logan of Pomona Park, FL. Her smile and willingness to help others will be missed by all of her family and friends. She and Ray will be together like they have always been.
