Gerald Dean “Jerry” McClanahand, 84, of Buckner, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018. A visitation will be held Saturday, June 2nd from 9-10:00am with a memorial service following at 10:00am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
Jerry was born August 14, 1933, in Burnham, MO to Elmer and Lilian (Vantrump) McClanahand. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Jerry also worked for over 50 years as a pipe fitter for the Local Pipe Fitter’s Union of 533, earning many certifications and honors. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; their children, Barbara (Wayne) Johnstone, Carol Noffsinger, Ray (Julie) Noffsinger, David (Shelly) Noffsinger, Patty (Jeff) Cecchetti, Elizabeth (David) Lowrey, Amy (Jeremy) Sellars, and son-in-law, John (Jill) Novotny; granddaughters, Nicole Novotny and Meagan Novotny, 16 bonus grandchildren he loved as his own, as well as, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; Jerry also leaves behind a sister, Virginia “Ginger” (Glen) Valentine. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 43 years, Norma, his daughters, Kathy McClanahand and Janet (McClanahand) Novotny, and his brother Roy McClanahand.
