Ronda Aldine McCollam of Independence, MO, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020. She was 86 years of age.
Ronda was born on December 17, 1934 near Uniontown, KS, the daughter of Amel R. and Georgia B. (Willis) Jones. She grew up in southeastern Kansas and was a free-spirited individual, with a love of animals, music, family, and friends. Her home in Glendale Gardens was always open for anyone (or any animal) who needed a place to stay or a home-cooked meal.
Ronda was one of the first female UPS drivers in the Kansas City metro and retired from UPS with 25 years of service. In retirement she volunteered as a guitar instructor at the Palmer Center in Independence, as well as at various other places in and around town. She spent her last few years at Sunrise of Leawood in Assisted Living, and the family would like to thank the staff for their compassionate care of her during that time.
She is survived by four children, Craig McCollam (Maureen), Shane McCollam (Marianne), Kim McCollam, and Tracy McCollam; Ten grandchildren, Jaime Luedke (Jason), Jeremy Maley, Craig McCollam Jr. (Jillian), Shane McCollam Jr., Clint McCollam (Tiffany Barkley), Scott McCollam, Ifo Atagi Jr. (Jennifer), Stayton Atagi (Kristina), Jasmin Atagi, and Hunter Atagi; Fourteen great grandchildren; and Two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as her beloved Yorkie, Baby.
Ronda was preceded in death by her parents Amel and Georgia, her brother Roscoe Jones, her great grandson Mason Atagi, and her nephew Sheldon Jones.
Mom will be greatly missed but will live on in our families’ hearts forever through our cherished memories with her. No services will be held at this time but, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Wayside Waifs in her honor.
