Brenda Sue Mcconnell

Brenda Sue McConnell, 65 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2018 at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, Kansas City Chapter. Brenda was born August 5, 1952 in Independence, MO to Raymond and Helen (Latier) McConnell and has been a lifelong area resident and graduated from Van Horn High School in 1970. She had worked as a claims administrator for GEHA for over 20 years. She enjoyed crafts, cooking, baking, new recipes, and cooking shows on TV. She had many friends, loved to laugh and “loved your guts.” She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Randolph, MO. Survivors include; a sister, Bonnie Clark and husband Roy of Firestone, CO; a niece, Dixie Hays and husband Doug of Blue Springs, MO; 3 nephews, Danny Datweiler and wife Irene of Independence, MO, Nathan Chapman of Lakewood, CO and Ben Chapman and wife Julia of Firestone, CO and a sister-in-law Sylvia Datweiler of Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Datweiler.
