Wilburn E. "Mac� McConnell, 83, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Monterey Park Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Friday. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Mac was born September 9, 1923 in Independence, MO to Harland A. and Faye (Filson) McConnell. Mr. McConnell proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. Mac was a member of the Village Heights Community of Christ Congregation. He retired from the General Motors Fairfax plant in 1980 after 27 years of service. Mac loved his grandchildren dearly. He was a member of the Laurel Club and enjoyed working in his yard and around the house in his spare time. Mr. McConnell is survived by his son D. Larry McConnell and wife Diane, daughter Sandra Dean and husband Gary; grandchildren Jeffrey and Kristi McConnell, Douglas and Tara McConnell, Kelli and Dustin Kurle, Matthew Dean; great-grandchildren Halle, Levi and Zamira McConnell; brother Durward "Mac� McConnell and wife Eunice; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. Mac was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty McConnell in 2000 and an infant son Wilburn E. McConnell, Jr.
