Michael Lee McCullough, 75, of Independence passed away on Dec. 10, 2022. He was born Sept. 25, 1947, in Kansas City to Patti and Melvin McCullough. Michael attended St. Mary High School and St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas, on a football scholarship, which led him to a career in computer programming. In 1971, he started his own business, Classic Software, where he built software solutions to allow a variety of businesses to thrive over the years.
Michael was known for his love of barbecuing and feeding his friends and family at major events, like weddings, as well as at smaller gatherings around the kitchen table. He was always fixing things, working on projects and was willing to help anyone who needed it. He loved spending time with his family at the lake and sharing stories and lessons with his grandchildren.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his wife of 36 years, Eugenia McCullough; two brothers, Mark and his wife, Margarita McCullough, and Steve and his wife, Donna McCullough; a sister, Lynn Wallace; two daughters, Tara Jenesse, and Lacy Lugo and her husband, Matt Lugo, son Ryan McCullough and his wife, Yugin McCullough and son, Ryan Cansler and his wife, Cherryh Cansler; 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a large extended family and many friends.
