Bernard J. “Bubber” McDermott, Jr. 56 of Higginsville, MO passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Lafayette Regional Hospital. He will be laid to rest beside his parents in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a private family service. There will be a memorial service held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Higginsville Habilitation Center, 100 W. 1st St., Higginsville, MO 64037. Donations may be made in his name to the Higginsville Habilitation Parents Association, 3826 S. Union St., Independence, MO 64055. Bubber was born April 28, 1961 in Kansas City, MO to Bernard J. and Mary Pat (Kelly) McDermott, Sr. Bubber was disabled from birth however, he was able to communicate, show emotion and touch many lives. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many caregivers that helped Bubber over the years at the Higginsville Habilitation Center, and feel that because of the care he received he was able to live a long, full life. Survivors include; 2 sisters, Michelle Rogers and husband Michael of Oak Grove, MO and Kelly Freeland and husband Arthur of Independence, MO, 2 nieces and a nephew.
