Patrick Bradley McDermott, 55, Independence, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; 611 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bishop Miege Scholarship Fund in memory of Patrick.
Patrick was born August 1, 1957 in Independence, MO the son of Robert E. and Linda L. (Ernst) McDermott. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s grade school and high school. Patrick received his M.B.A. from Rockhurst University. He taught at various schools including, St. Mary’s, Rockhurst, St. Thomas Aquinas, and recently Bishop Miege High School. During his years teaching, Patrick enjoyed coaching football, track, wrestling, and cross country. Patrick was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his son, Blake Patrick McDermott; parents, Robert and Linda McDermott; sister, Maureen McDermott-Lathrom and husband Joseph; brother, Thomas McDermott and wife Kellie and additional nieces, nephews and family.
