Mary Christine “Ginger” McDonald McLeish, age 70, passed away on January 12, 2016, in Blue Springs, MO. A private family graveside inurnment at Lees Summit Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Mary was born on December 17, 1945, in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland, to James McDonald II and Anastasia (Connor) McDonald. She came to the United States in 1969, and owned and operated Ginger’s Hair Shanty in Blue Springs for over 20 years. She had an abiding Catholic faith and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her survivors include her husband of 22 years, Thomas; daughter Melissa Fuselier (husband, Todd) and Melissa’s father, Jerry Keister, daughter, Tara McLeish, and son, Ryan Thomas McLeish (wife, Catherine); grandchildren, Kyleia Downs, Caleb Fuselier, Connor Fuselier, and Kaedyn Thomas McLeish; siblings, Agnes “Aggie” Hartwell, Anastasia Heiler (husband, Vern), Elizabeth Meisel (husband, Richard), Margaret Martin (husband, Ned), James McDonald III (wife, Geraldine), and Patrick McDonald (wife, Sally); brother-in-law Frank Flannery and sister-in-law Catherine McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sara Flannery; brother, Thomas McDonald; and brother-in-law, John Hartwell.
