Jessie Mcdowell

Jessie Ruth McDowell, 91, of Madisonville, KY passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Cremation is planned with an inurnment in Madisonville later this spring.

Jessie was born on August 23, 1926 in Madisonville to Ted and Pearl Wright. After graduating high school she married James Curtis “J.C.” McDowell, Sr. Together they had 1 son, James Curtis “Jay” McDowell, Jr. and they owned a hardware store. Jessie Ruth owned and ran a bicycle shop before retiring. She really enjoyed decorating her home and riding her bicycle. One of her favorite activities was spending time with her friends, especially Friday lunches at Country Cupboard. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church Madisonville.

Jessie Ruth is survived by her daughter-in-law Ellen McDowell of Lee’s Summit, MO; granddaughter Leeann Murphy of Pleasant Hill, MO; and 3 great-grandchildren Samuel, Riley, and Colton.

She was preceded in death by her husband J.C. in 1996, and her son Jay on January 8th of this year.
