Shane D. McElya, age 40, of Warsaw, MO, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 in his home.
He was born on September 4, 1974 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Jean and the late Gary McElya. Shane was employed for many years in the oilfields in Kansas, then moved to Warsaw, MO in 2010 where he then became an over the road truck driver. Shane enjoyed fishing, hunting, going mudding, grilling and socializing with friends and family. Shane was known for being the life of the party and giving the best bear hugs. He loved music, dancing, telling jokes and being able to make people smile.
He was preceded in death by his father Gary McElya, and his grandparents.
He is survived by his mother, Jean McElya of Warsaw, MO; sister, Vicki and her husband Nate Mangelsdorf, of Blue Springs, MO; sons, Alex and Shayden of Lee’s Summit, MO. His Fiancé, Bobbie Wilson of Windsor, MO and her children, Shelbi-Kai and Cooper.
Memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055.
