BETTY L. MCEVOY
Betty L. McEvoy, 85, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013.
Betty was born in Gardner, KS on September 29, 1927 to John and Ida Hammer. Betty is survived by her son, John A. McEvoy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John D. McEvoy; brother, Roger Hammer; and sisters, Marcelia Hammer and Alvena Tangblade.
Betty was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, canning garden produce and spending quality time with family. As a mother, Betty was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was involved in young John’s preschool education. She taught him using flash cards of states, countries and math problems. Together, they also visited museums and cultural centers. She is loved and will be missed.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with Rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2nd at Carson Speaks Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3rd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; 600 N. Liberty in Independence. Burial will be at Olathe Memorial Cemetery, KS.
