Maurice McGill, 76, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, January 9th, 2013. A visitation will be held 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th Street Independence. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 14th 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church; 613 South Main, Independence. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Corder, Missouri.
Maurice was born January 23rd, 1936 in Corder, MO to Raymond and Letha (Osa) McGill. He graduated high school and later moved to Kansas City, MO in 1955. He married Anna Belle Limback and together they had three children. Maurice was employed by Interstate United for nearly 30 years and retired in 1998 after eleven years of service with AARP. He was a devoted member to Messiah Lutheran, loved his family, and traveled with his wife. Mac was handy with tools building additions to his home, and fixing cars. He thirsted for knowledge and frequently read non fiction. Maurice was loved by his family and will be missed.
Maurice leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Anna Belle, of the home; daughter Cynthia Hilden; son, Daryl McGill; daughter Rhonda Denk and husband Tim, all of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Michael (Connie) Hilden, Eric (Regina) Hilden, Nicholas and Christina McGill, Kyle and Hannah Denk; great grandchildren, Laney Hilden and Isabel Hilden; sister, JoAnn Derry, Overland Park, KS.
