Jo Ann Mcinnes (Jones)

Jo Ann McInnes, 82 of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 20, 2016 at her home. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 3601 S. Sterling Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church. Jo Ann was born November 11, 1933 to Joseph Ted and Pearl (Richardson) Jones and has been a lifelong area resident, graduating from William Chrisman High School. She served for many years as the Administrative Secretary to the Independence City Manager and for the Truman Heartland Community Foundation, and retired after working at the Frontier Trails Center. She has been very active with her alumni classmates from Rock Creek School and William Chrisman High School. A member at St. Paul for nearly 50 years, she has served on the board and as Financial Secretary. She loved to travel, having visited over 50 different countries from Morocco to China, and was recently in Belgium to see her grandson. She is survived by a son, David McInnes, MD and wife Nanette of Jacksonville, FL; 2 grandchildren, Mallory McInnes (MD), and Joseph McInnes (PhD). She was preceded in death by her husband Don McInnes in 1978, and a brother, John Jones in 2012.
