John Edward Mckenzie

John Edward McKenzie, 86 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. John was born February 18, 1933 in LaJunta, Co to Charles Lance and Melvina Marie (Bazil) McKenzie and has been a longtime area resident. He had worked as a self-employed builder and had built several buildings in Nebraska and Missouri. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, dancing and bowling. He is survived by; 2 daughters, Charlene Yardley of Kingsville, MO and Sheila McKenzie of Independence, MO; 5 sons, James E. McKenzie and wife Karen of Williamsburg VA, Tim McKenzie and wife Glenna McCarty of Independence, MO, Bob McKenzie, Rick McKenzie and Mike McKenzie all of California; a brother, Garland McKenzie of Florida; a sister, Evalee Czerwonka of Cape Girardeau, MO, 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Constance Sharon (Williams) in 2008 and a sister, Katherine Aldred.
