Joyce E. McLain, 70, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, July 4, 2010. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the St. Sabina’s Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening followed be family visitation until 8:00 p.m., at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Donations may be made to the Keith Worthington Chapter of the ALS Society. Joyce was born May 20, 1940 in Marshall, MO to William and Wilhemina (Terschluse) Schellenberg. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed reading and going to movies. She had worked at Perfume Pizzazz in Independence from the late 1990’s until the closed. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO. She was married to Warren Lee McLain; he preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by; 2 sons, Jason McLain and his wife Kendra of Belton, MO and Steve Sloan and his wife Barbara of Clinton, MO; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Sloan of Bedford, TX and 4 grandchildren, Taylor Sloan, Paige McLain, Chelsea Townsend and Brittany Townsend. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Tommy Sloan in 2009 and Jimmy Sloan in 2000 and an infant sister.
