Lewis W. McLaughlin came to this earth on December 5, 1930. On March 27, 2021 his spirit soared to return to his heavenly home. His long, well lived life, was full to overflowing. The constant love of family and dear friends made everything worthwhile. Close friendships, wonderful experiences and great memories filled his heart.
Dad was proud of the years he served in Japan, Guam and Korea, while in the Air Force. When he received the opportunity to take part in the veterans 'Honor Flight', he was thankful to be able to share in that experience with his son.
After retiring from Lake City he spent many happy years participating in craft fairs. So many people benefited from his love of woodworking. His years working at Stone Church Preschool also brought him much joy. When it was time to relax or have some fun, travel was the answer. Especially trips to Branson. But nothing made him happier than when his family was all gathered together.
Dad's parents, Lewis G. and Marjorie McLaughlin, sisters, Ruth Jones, Katherine Eaton, Marjorie Andrews and his oldest daughter, Belinda, have gone on before him.
Left here with hearts full of love and memories, are his wife of 68 years, Dolores. Also his children, Denise, Tonya(Dennis), Lewis E.(Terry), along with eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Thanks, Dad, you worked tirelessly to provide for us and to always be there to lend the helping hand. We are forever grateful. Your love and legacy will live on in all of us. We love you.
In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to The Stone Church preschool, 1012 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64050 or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
