Mary Rose McMullen, 83 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th S., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to The Groves Community Hospice. Mary was born July 7, 1928 in Independence, MO to Milton R. and Grace Hilda (Ufen) Wrigley and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1946. She was an active member of the Community of Christ, Liberty Street Congregation where she also taught Sunday School and was a leader of the Zion’s League and member of the Women’s Club. She was a former president of PTA when her children were in school. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She had worked as an accountant for the Herald House Publishing from 1968 until she retired in 1990. She was married to Frederick E. McMullen, Sr., who preceded her in death on May 18, 2012. Survivors include; 2 sons, Frederick E. McMullen, Jr and his wife Virginia and Larry McMullen and his wife Kathy all of Independence, MO; a daughter, Kathy Jones and her husband Jeff of Hibbing, MN; 5 granddaughters, Jennifer Hauck, Janelle Dozar, Amber Koebernick, Molly Huh and Elizabeth Queensland and 4 great grandchildren, Ashton, Dalton, Allison and Rowan. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George Wrigley and John Wrigley.
