James R. McPike, 81, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am, Monday, December 31, 2018 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Independence, MO. James was born on Nov. 26,1937, in Barnard, MO., to Dorothy R. and James R. McPike, Sr. He moved to K.C., MO. In 1947. Jim graduated from East High School in 1955. He met his wife of 61 years, Beth (Salmon) in the Youth Group at Van Brunt Presbyterian Church. They were married on January 24,1958 at the Church. After many years of attending night school, working full time, and raising a family, he graduated from Rockhurst College in 1968 with a degree in accounting. He worked at Farmland Industries until he retired at age 55. In retirement he worked several part-time jobs. In 1960, he joined Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church. In 2004, he transferred his membership to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Independence, MO, and was a faithful volunteer on the property committee. He was a proud father to his three children Michelle, Alan (Al), and Lara.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Jack and Randy.
He is survived by his wife Beth, children Michelle Osgood (Scott), Louisville, CO, Alan McPike (Marissa), New Bern, NC, Lara Harper (Reggie) Muskegon, Ml, grandchildren Taylor Osgood, (Kim), Molly Bishop (Wyatt), Alyssa McPike and Kevin McPike, great granddaughter, Sloan Osgood, sister Lynn Sloan (Jerry) sisters in¬law, Karen McPike (Jack) and Vera McPike (Randy), and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Jim endured Lymphoma cancer and COPD.
