Harry Chester Meierarend Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 76. Harry was born to Harry and Edna Meierarend on April 16, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri.
While attending Northeast High School Harry met the love of his life, Cheryl at the young age of 16. They were inseparable from that day on and were married just a few short years later. Harry spent the next 58 years creating memories with his beloved bride. To this union came 3 sons, Chet, Scott and Tim. Harry loved his family fiercely and made a point to raise his sons to be strong, independent men as well. He was a talented architect and builder and worked side by side with his family often. When he would prepare his homes to showcase, they’d work together to create an atmosphere that was sure to catch the attention of the public. Harry won several awards in the Parade of Homes over the years. He was an inspirational man, often thought of as the “go to” guy when anyone needed a hand or had a problem. When Harry wasn’t working on a project he enjoyed skiing, raising bulldogs, rock n roll and most of all food. He would never turn down a good Rueben sandwich or some meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Harry’s jovial, onery presence will be missed greatly. He was truly one of a kind.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl; his brother Walter (Kazan) Meierarend; sons, Chet, Scott (Shelly), and Tim Meierarend; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 16th from 10-11am with a memorial service to follow at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri.
