Melinda “Michelle” Lane

Melinda “Michelle” Lane of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday January 22, 2024.

Michelle was born on May 6, 1967, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Mike and Linda Kay (Herrick) Lane. She graduated from Blue Springs High School in the class of 1987 and later received an associate degree in Childcare. Michelle worked in child and adult care most of her adult life, a profession she excelled at being a caregiver by nature. In October 2004, Michelle gave birth to her daughter Angelina Mae Leighton, her proudest accomplishment. She enjoyed baking for family events and loved going to dirt late model races. Michelle would spend time watching movies, listening to music and spending as much time with family as she could. Her smile and laugh were special to all who knew her, Michelle will be deeply missed.

Michelle is survived by her daughter, Angelina Leighton; parents, Mike and Kay Lane; aunts, Kathy (Bob) Hanrath, Kolette Orsatti, Kenna (Roger) Levings, Debbie Beckman, Rachel Lane; many dear cousins, and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; uncles, Kim Herrick and Bill “Hog” Lane.

Services for Michelle will take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39^th Street, Independence, Missouri on Friday, January 26, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am. Michelle will be laid to following services at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri.
