John R. Melton

John R. "JR� Melton, 77, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be 2 pm Tuesday, July 1st at Speaks Suburban Chapel; with interment in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Chapel. John was born January 31, 1926 in Portia, AR. He worked at the GM Fairfax plant for over 30 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and daughter, Brenda Baker. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlene Melton; son, Jimmy L.Melton of Glendale, AZ; daughter, Sharon K. Hancox of Lone Jack, MO; grandchildren, Janet Pavlovsky, Dawn Duffett, James Melton, Jeffrey Melton, Michele Zelk, Bill Baker, Anthony Hancox, and Angela Hancox; 10 great grandchildren.
