Lemuel Melton passed away Saturday, Nov 15 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Lem, as he was known by those who knew him was born May 20, 1929 to Doris Craig and Johnny Melton. He was 85 years old. Services are at 10:a.m at the First Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour before on Wednesday, Nov 19th. Internment will be at Mound Grove Cemetery. Lem enjoyed many things, Boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, traveling with friends, going all over the United States, driving his little tow truck in Shrine parades , but he especially enjoyed his family and watching his children and grandchildren grow and succeed. Lem was an accountant and retired from Lake City. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church having served as its treasurer since his retirement in 1991 He is succeeded by his wife Doris, his daughter Marla Kimsey and husband Fred of Blue Springs, grandson Steve Kimsey and wife Shelley , his granddaughter Brandy Coleman all of Blue Springs, and grandson Jeff Kimsey and Kathy,of Excelsior Springs 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren , sister Elizabeth Brown and husband, John of John Knox and brother, Don Preston and wife, Jeanne of Pharr, Texas, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Douglas Melton and mother Doris Brookshire. Contributions are suggested to the Memorial Committee of the First Presbyterian Church.
