Mary Ruth Mercer, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday July 28, 2022. She was 89 years of age.
Mary was born on August 15, 1932, in Colfax, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Ruth (Meckley) Williams. She attended and graduated from Colfax High School in the class of 1950. Mary worked for the electric company in Iowa until she wed her best friend and love of her life Donald Mercer in 1965 and then moving to the Kansas City area, to this union came 2 sons. Mary had a great faith in the Lord and was very active in her church, teaching Sunday school for a number of years. She enjoyed watching the Royals her church and adored being surrounded by her family. Mary was an amazing woman and will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her sons Kevin and Kent Mercer; sister in laws, Eleanor Pratt and Minna Lou Mercer; special nieces and nephews, David Swanson, John Mercer, Donny Swanson, Bryan Williams, Brian Mercer, Brad Williams, Jan Jewell, Danny Swanson, Merri Ann Mercer, Paul Pratt, Steve Pratt, Michelle Mercer, Liane Mercer and their families; extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Mercer; parents, Howard and Ruth Williams; siblings, Leona, Howard (Shirley) William Jr., Doris; brother in laws, Don Jewell, Don Swanson; niece, Thea Swanson.
A family inurnment will take place at Colfax Cemetery in Colfax, Iowa at a later date.
