Merle Gean Allen, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, in Blue Springs, Missouri, just two days shy of her 84th birthday. Born on November 13, 1940, in Calico Rock, Arkansas, Merle brought a spirit of resilience and warmth into the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know.
Merle's journey into adulthood began as a dedicated homemaker, a role she embraced with grace and unwavering commitment. She poured her heart into nurturing her family, and her love for them was boundless. Later in life, after experiencing the challenges of divorce, she found strength in her independence and joined the workforce at Truman Lakewood, now known as University Health Lakewood. There, she thrived not only as a dedicated employee but also as a cherished friend to many, creating bonds that reflected her kind-hearted nature. Those who knew Merle would describe her as an incredibly hard worker with a sweet disposition. She possessed a nurturing demeanor that radiated warmth and comfort, leading many to lovingly refer to her as "mom." Merle was remarkably selfless, often putting the needs of others before her own, driven by an immense capacity for love that was felt by all. Merle delighted in the simple pleasures of life. She loved immersing herself in stories, often found with a good book, or sharing joyful moments with friends and family through board games and lively conversations both in-person and over the telephone. The most significant aspect of Merle’s life was her family, whom she adored with all her heart. She considered them her proudest accomplishment, and the sacrifices she made for their happiness were numerous and selfless. Merle had an innate ability to create a sense of belonging, making everyone feel valued and cherished, whether they were family by blood or chosen family by heart.
Merle's passing was preceded by her parents, Willie and Ora (Yancy) Dockins; her twin brother, Gerald Dockins, and her sisters, Marie Dockins and Ann Hellums. Her legacy lives on through her children, Debbie Peck, Brenda Peck, Roger Peck, Sheila Peck, and Craig Allen (Kristin); her grandchildren, Joshua Peck, Cassie Bravenack, Taryin Bravenack, Cadence Allen, and Sydney Allen; and her great-granddaughter, Oakley Peck.
