Edward Mershon 81, of Buckner, MO passed away on June 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Buckner United Methodist Church 109 S. Hudson, Buckner, MO. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, June 29, 2018 at the church. Burial will take place at Buckner Hill Cemetery. Ed was born on February 20, 1937 in Independence, MO. He was one of 10 children born to Roger and Mildred (Jones) Mershon. Ed attended Central Missouri State University for 2 years and then left to serve in the Army. After 2 years in the Army, Ed returned home to work on the farm and raise a family. Ed decided that he wanted to marry a city girl, and that’s just what he did when he met Pamela (Thompson) Mershon. They shard 52 years together and raised 2 children. Ed was very active in the community and involved in Buckner United Methodist and St. John LaLande. He was a member of the Buckner Hill Cemetery Board, several agriculture boards, and of course Misty’s Corner Cafe Farm Table! Ed was always looking for a deal and studied the classified ads regularly, and if someone needed something he could always point them in the right direction for the best deal. Every Tuesday you could find him at the sale barn in Kingsville. Survivors include; wife, Pamela Mershon; daughter, Lisa Sims and her husband Brian; son, Kurt Mershon and his wife Nicole; grandchildren, Anna Marie Sims, Austin Douglas Sims, Addisyn Mae Sims and Austin Taylor Mershon; sisters, Barbara Querry and Linda Powell (Bill); brothers, Richard Mershon (Sue), Tom Mershon (Janet) and Jack Mershon (Priscilla); sisters-in-law, Louise Mershon (Jerry) and Caroline Mershon (Waldo); a large extended family and many friends. Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Waldo Mershon and Jerry Mershon; sisters, Marilyn Pick (Norman) and Joann Ehlers (Dean). In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Buckner United Methodist Church.
