Dr. Jesse W. Metz, Jr., 83 of Independence, Mo passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 900 W. 22nd St., Blue Springs, MO 64015. Donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice. He was born January 26, 1934 in Independence, MO to Jesse W. and Flora (Hathaway) Metz, Sr. and has been a lifelong area resident. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He had a very distinguished career as an electrical engineer for the Bendix Corporation for over 30 years. He invented several security devices as well as worked with NASA. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and volunteering his time with children especially his grandson. He worked to develop medical devices for handicapped children. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was very active as a youth group volunteer and long time Sunday School Teacher. He was also a long time Boy Scout leader. Survivors include; a son, Mike Metz and wife Jeannie of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Dennie Edmondson and husband Phil of Independence, MO and a grandson, Joe Mike Terranella and wife Kendra.
