Helen Juanita Metz, 83, passed away on July 22, 2017.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 900 NW 22nd St in Blue Springs, MO. Contributions may be made to the church in her honor.
Helen was born on December 23, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, to William and Hilda (McFall) Pewitt. She graduated from Northeast High School in the class of 1951. At the age of 19, she married Jesse Metz, and to this union were born two children. Along with being a homemaker, she also worked in the china department at the Jones Store Co. for over 20 years. She was a member of Beaumont, Calvary, and Noland Road Baptist Churches, and it was at Noland Road where she and Jesse were head of their youth department. She loved to participate in church functions and activities. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping, listening to music, and reading. Her greatest passion of all was being a “Nana” to her grandson. Helen was a beautiful woman who radiated light and love, and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of over 63 years, Dr. Jesse Metz; son, Michael Metz (wife, Jeanne); daughter, Dennie Edmondson (husband, Phil); and beloved grandson, Joe Mike Terranella (wife, Kendra).
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hilda.
