Lyle Richard Meyer, 64, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Lyle was born on September 18, 1957 in Marshall, Missouri, the son of Joseph Meyer and Nancy Meyer. He attended and graduated from Truman High School, class of 1975. He started his career at Bayer Agriculture. Lyle continued working as an operator for Bayer until his retirement, 37 years later in 2012. After retirement Lyle went on to work for Trane Technologies as a facilities manager.
Growing up Lyle played baseball, found his love of music, memorizing his first song at the age of 7, thanks given to his family and to Elvis, the same year he discovered the Green Bay Packers. Later in his teen years, a spark was triggered, and he found his talent at rebuilding cars, a past time he enjoyed which he shared with his father and his son. You could always find Lyle if you would just follow the sound of whistling. Lyle had a great love for golf and every October, for the last 22 years, he and a group of friends would embark on the great “Golfapalooza”. Lyle had a great faith and a heart to serve. He was one of the “Pioneers” helping to set up and establish the Independence campus for his church home at Abundant Life. He was also lead of the parking lot team, safely assisting church goers before each service. Lyle was also very active in his small group, a group he and his wife Christi got to enjoy together; their last project together was over the holidays, serving and praying with over 700 families in the community, a memory to be cherished for how moving it was. His family came second to none, the care he showed for them will never leave anyone guessing at the love he had for them. Lyle served the Lord big; he lived his life big and with joy and most of all he loved big and certainly the loss we feel is big. He made such an impact while he was here, and he will continue to do so with his memory. Lyle will be so greatly missed, but we know he is with the Lord, still doing big things with passed loved ones by his side.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Christi Meyer; children, Tyler (Kara) Meyer, Amanda (Bret) Rife, Shane (Brooke) Edwards; grandchildren, Layne, Whitley, Weston, Matthew, Daphne; father, Joseph Meyer; sister, Connie (Anthony) Martinez; extended family and dearest friends. He is preceded in death by daughter, Melanie Meyer; mother, Nancy Meyer.
