Nancy was born November 28, 1937, in Carrollton, Missouri to Herbert Meyer and Lillian (Drosselmeyer) Meyer. She attended Santa Fe High School in Waverly, Missouri. After graduating she met the love of her life and married Joseph Meyer, from their union they had two children Lyle and Connie. Sometime later they moved to the Kansas City area and made Independence their home. Nancy was a stellar homemaker even while working out of the home. Nancy was a phenomenal mother, and her days would be full of work, making Connie’s clothing, taking care of the home, baking and whipping up home cooked meals for her family and still making time to go in the yard and playing catch with Lyle, to make sure he got his practice in. Besides being a fantastic seamstress, she enjoyed crocheting, listening to country music and she LOVED the color purple and wore it proudly. She believed that holidays and birthdays were to be celebrated on their actual day and wouldn’t hesitate to put together a wonderful celebration during the week. To say that Nancy was an independent, strong woman with great faith would be an understatement. She was fierce in her drive to take care of things, and putting others first and getting things done, while at times could seem stubborn, her subtle gestures would show what a kind soft hearted woman she was. Nancy will be missed by many, she had such a love for her family and my how it was shown through all of her hard work and dedication. She was truly a wonderful woman.
Nancy is survived by husband, Joe Meyer; children, Lyle (Christi) Meyer, Connie (Anthony) Martinez; grandchildren, Tyler (Kara) Meyer, Amanda (Bret) Rife, Shane (Brooke) Edwards; greatgrandchildren, Layne Meyer, Whitley Meyer, Weston Meyer, Matthew Rife, Daphne Rife. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lillian Meyer and her beautiful granddaughter Melanie Meyer who passed in 2000.
