Michael Alan Pennington

Michael Alan Pennington, a man of Christian faith, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 3, 2023 in Independence, Missouri. He was 64. Michael was born to Richard Pennington and Dorothy (Newsome) Moreno on March 19, 1959 in Independence, Missouri.

Michael graduated from Truman High School with the class of 1977. He’s had a variety of interests over the years. Michael was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping, canoeing, guns, knives and being outdoors. Michael was a lover of all animals and liked going on adventures with his best friend Buck (an Airedale Terrior).  He was a fan of rock and roll but more specifically Pink Floyd. He was a Ford man, loved classic hot rods and liked to go fast! Michael was incredibly talented and proud of the many stained glass art pieces he’d created over the years. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his beloved companion of 25 years, Debbie Schroeger; his daughter, Melissa Pennington; step-mother, Patricia Pennington; mother, Dorothy Moreno (Tony); sisters, Sheryl Janeski (Mike), Lisa Orndorff (Jeff), Melanie Perez (Steve); brother, Stephen Plake and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Pennington; sisters, Teresa Florez, Katherine Hartford; brother, Daniel Pennington and furry companion, Buck.
