Michael Dennis O’Neil

January 23, 1953 – January 11, 2025

Michael Dennis O’Neil went home to God peacefully on January 11, 2025. He is now reunited with his Mother, Shirley Curtis; Stepfather, George Curtis; Father, Timothy P. O’Neil; Brother, Timothy B. O’Neil; Brother-in-law, Robert Cinq-Mars.

He loved being a US Navy veteran and was trained as a fire control technician. He enjoyed attending St. James church, taking long walks and visiting with family. Among his many natural talents were playing guitar and singing. He enjoyed woodworking, playing pool, reading scripture and drawing sketches on various religious themes.

He was a pro at ping-pong, and had amazing talent at basketball, making baskets from 15 ft out at once-a-year family get-togethers. He loved dining at his favorite restaurant, Winstead’s on the Plaza. Most of all, he had a big, gentle heart.

He is survived by his six sisters, Marcia Cinq-Mars, Cheryl O’Neil, Terry O’Neil, Joan Knotts and husband Donald, Mary Gosling and husband Ed, Ann Chumchal and husband Michael, and one brother, Sean O’Neil, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, 10am, at Carson Speakes Funeral Home in Independence, MO. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery immediately following service.
