Helga Michel

Helga A. Michel, 81, of Oak Grove, MO passed away October 16, 2014. A visitation will be held from 2-3:00 p.m. followed by a 3:00 p.m. memorial service on Tuesday, October 21, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Helga was born December 13, 1932 in Arnstadt, Germany to Theodore and Luise (Niebel) Joerg. She attended nursing school in Stuttgart, Germany. She moved to America in 1955 and resided in the Kansas City area for 49 years. After 35 years, working as an RN and a Nursing Supervisor, she retired from Research Medical Center in 2002. Helga was a beloved mother, mentor, teacher, counselor and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard Michel. She is survived by her four children, Harold Michel, Linda Wilkinson, Karin Michel and Robert Michel; seven grandchildren, Heather Scott, Annaliesa Vance, Andrew Wilkinson, Megan Kelly, Peter Wilkinson, Alex Michel and Ashley Michel; as well as two great grandchildren, Faith Scott and Eden Scott.
