Charles Alvin Milburn, 83, of Lee's Summit, MO, beloved husband, father, and grandfather left this earth for his heavenly home on Friday, October 30, 2020 at Saint Luke's Hospital East in Lee's Summit, MO.
Charles "Charlie" Alvin Milburn was born on July 14,1936 in Duncan, OK to Roy Alvin and
Prudence Ellen (Choat Banks). He was a graduate of Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City
and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Central Missouri State University (University of Central Missouri). Charles was employed by Butler Manufacturing Company as a Manager of Materials Research and Testing for 37 years.
On September 29,1957, Charles married Peggy Lou (Kennedy) in Amber, Oklahoma. In 1965
Charles and Peggy moved to Kansas City, MO. They had two children, Gina and Jeffrey.
Charles enjoyed family vacations, playing cards with friends and family, traveling, and working with the Boy Scouts. He was a perpetual member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Oklahoma. Charles served as the family "photographer" and enjoyed showing his slides of travel, family,
and friends. Charles was a lifelong Methodist and he and Peggy were currently members of The
Summit Church in Lee's Summit, MO. Prior to that they attended Blue Ridge Boulevard United
Methodist Church in Raytown, MO.
Charles was proceeded in death by his infant brother, Roy Eugene, his father Roy A. Milburn, his mother Prudence E. Milburn, and his sister Julia Milburn all of Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Peggy of the home; his daughter Gina Milburn of Monett, MO; his son Jeffrey Milburn (Patsy) of Grain Valley, MO; three grandchildren. Summer Likins, Dusty Likins and Madelyn Milburn all of Missouri; as well as sister, Ava Young (Joe) of Oklahoma; two nieces Elizabeth Warren and Jennifer Miller of Texas; and a whole host of extended family members.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials, in memory of Charles, be made to The Summit Church, 3381 N.W. Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64081.
A visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 18020 E. 39th Street S, Independence, MO 64055 from 1 - 3 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2020 with a service to immediately follow.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2021 in Amber, Oklahoma.
