Peggy Lou Milburn, 84, of Lee’s Summit, MO, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister left this earth for her heavenly home on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
Peggy Lou Milburn was born on February 1, 1936 in Amber, OK to Ted and Margaret Kennedy. She was a graduate of Amber High School in Amber, OK. Peggy worked as a homemaker, bank teller, Avon distribution worker, and as an office assistant for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
On September 29, 1957, Peggy married Charles Milburn in Amber, Oklahoma. In 1965 Charles and Peggy moved to Kansas City, MO. In 1992, they moved to Lee’s Summit, MO where they lived until their deaths. They had two children, Gina and Jeffrey. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, traveling, reading, feeding the birds, and working with her flowers. Peggy loved to be outside and could often be found sitting on the front porch or back deck at their home. She loved her grandchildren and spent many happy days and evenings attending baseball games, basketball games, theater performances, martial arts testings, and pom dance performances for Summer, Dusty, and Madelyn. She was a lifelong Christian and, along with Charles, was a member of The Summit Church in Lee’s Summit, MO and before that Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church in Raytown, MO.
Peggy was proceeded in death by her husband, Charles Milburn; parents Ted and Margaret (Ferrell) Kennedy; brothers Verl Kennedy (and wife Margaret) and Wesley Kennedy (and wife Sharan); sister Betty Beam (and son Timmy Kennedy); and daughter-in-law Patsy Milburn (Jeff). She is survived by her daughter Gina Milburn of Monett, MO; her son Jeffrey Milburn of Grain Valley, MO; three grandchildren, Summer Likins, Dusty Likins and Madelyn Milburn all of Missouri; brothers Jerry Kennedy (Vickie) of Amber, OK and Lonnie Kennedy of Amber, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials, in memory of Peggy, be made to The Summit (Church) Scholarship Fund, 3381 N.W. Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081.
A visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 18020 E. 39th Street S, Independence, MO 64055 from 1 – 3 p.m., Saturday, December 12, 2020 with a private family service to immediately follow. A celebration of life will be held in Spring or Summer of 2021 in Amber, Oklahoma.
