Alice Mae (Hartley) Miller, 87 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO on Saturday, September 24 at 9:30 a.m. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Alice was born November 11, 1928 in Butler, MO to Adrian E. and Hazel A. (Bell) Hartley. She grew up in Butler and graduated from Butler High School as class valedictorian in 1946. Alice married Arthur L. Miller in March 1947 and they were longtime residents of Independence, MO where they were co-owners of Milmack Floor Covering. She worked as an office manager at Truman High School from 69-97. Alice enjoyed spending time with family, painting, doing puzzles, knitting and games. She volunteered her time at South Crysler Community of Christ, the Laurel Club, and in The Community of Christ World Church Historian Office. She was a longtime member of the South Crysler Community of Christ and most recently a member of the Lee’s Summit Community of Christ. Survivors include: 4 children, Cindy Vernon (Ted) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Terry Miller (Terri) of Leawood, KS, Tammy Andrew of Joplin, MO and Larry Miller (Tracy) of Overland Park, KS; a daughter-in-law, Karen Miller of Ozark, MO; a brother, Donald Hartley of Humansville, MO; 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 2 step great grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and a son Dennis A. Miller.
