Anna Margaret Miller, 86, of Independence, died October 18, 2006 at Newmark Care Center in Kansas City. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6-8 P.M. at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery, Blue Springs, Missouri. Anna was born in Brooten, Minnesota on January 2, 1920 one of twelve children born to John and Bertha (Verhoeff) Jordan. She was retired from Food Service where she had worked for the Kansas City School District, Salvation Army, Camp Fire Camp and a Catering company. Anna was an active volunteer with Drumm Farm and Hope House and was always on the go. She loved traveling, flower gardening, animals, fishing and her fish pond and especially her family. Anna was a former member of Trinity Presbyterian in Independence and currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in North Kansas City. She married Hal Miller Sr. in Belton, Missouri in September of 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Harry, Harold, Johnny and Albert and by a sister, Nellie. She is survived by: her children Hal Miller Jr. of Sweet Springs, Mo. and Joyce Ryan and husband John of Kansas City North, Mo., five grandchildren; Amanda Ryan of Gardner, Ks., Matt Ryan of K.C., Mo., Ricky Thornton of Belton, Mo., Bill Thornton of Independence, Mo., and Kristen Thornton of Sweet Springs, Mo., two great grandchildren, Zane Stutzman of Gardner, Ks. and Makala Thornton of Sweet Springs, Mo., three sisters, Jeannette Littau of Salina, Ks., Marie Wilson and husband Ruie of Morrilton, Arkansas, and Barbara Carter of Independence, Mo., and three brothers, Henry Jordan, Richard Jordan and wife Vicky of Olathe, Ks., and Norman Jordan and wife Thelma of Blue Springs, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to Drumm Farm or Hope House in memory of Anna Miller. Online condolences to www.speakschapel.com.
