Curtis Earl Miller, 76, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm Sunday, December 13th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, December 14th at the chapel. Cremation will follow.
Curtis was born June 28, 1939 in Windsor, MO as one of five children to Forrest Offield and Ella Lee (Allen) Miller. He graduated from high school in 1957. Curtis met his beloved Sandra Kay (Harbit) and they married March 13, 1965. He farmed until 1971 when he drove a grain truck for Crenshaw & Smart. Afterwards he moved to Independence to work for Trailways, Greyhound, and Zellerbach in 1989. He retired from driving for ACH Foam Technology (formerly Contour Products) in 2007. Curtis enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, hunting, and especially enjoyed being with his family and friends. This gregarious and boisterous man loved making everyone happy with his stories and jokes. Curtis is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include wife of 50 years, Sandy of the home; daughters, Kelly M. Imler (Shaun Tyler) of Grain Valley, MO; Kimberly K. Gerdts (Brock M.) of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Nicholas A., Jaron M. and Jeffrey Imler; Jackson K. Tyler; Joshua B., Austin M., and Sarah M. Gerdts; sisters-in-law, Marie, and Sharon K. Miller, and Zella Lou Johnson; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, George “Dale,” Forrest Lee “Butch,” Ted E.; and sister, Ella Fern Howery.
