Jimmie F. Miller, 82, of Springfield, MO passed away on March 30, 2022. He was born on June 19, 1939, in Booneville, Missouri to Fred and Mary (Lionberger) Miller.
He graduated from Manual High School in 1957 and then earned his Associates degree from Southwest Baptist College. In 1964, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Education from CMSU, Warrensburg, MO. Jimmie worked at TWA for 34 years and supported his family, he also served in the U.S. Army reserves for 7 years.
Jimmie was a very giving man and even donated his own kidney to his sister 30 years ago. He loved helping with both youth and adult mission trips, helping build the Christmas pageant stages every year, and even went to Israel with a pageant. Jimmie helped build churches in Belo Horizonte & Manaus in Brazil and was quick to help in Louisiana with Hurricane Katrina clean up. He loved to travel and went on cruises and later senior bus trips.
After his retirement he helped care for his mother, brother Bennett, and wife’s parents. He also enjoyed substitute teaching in Lees Summit School District and Summit Christian Academy. Jimmie sang in adult church choir all his adult life and sang in KC Metro Men’s Choir. He was a golf marshal at Country Creek Golf Club and was a member at Connection Point (FBR) for 53 years and later a member of Crossway BC in Springfield.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 57 years Sharon, daughters Tricia Lynn Triplett (Steve) of Strafford, MO and Amy Leigh Brooks (Mark) of Milton, FL; six grandchildren Jacob Garland Triplett, Katelyn Angela Triplett, John Lewis Brooks, Anna Grace Brooks, Joseph Israel Brooks, James Thomas Brooks, many nieces and nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dale L. Miller, Bennett F. Miller, and Don C. Miller, and sisters Mary Francis Burt, and Sarah Pennington.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO 64055. With burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. The family will greet friends from 12:30 until service time Tuesday at the chapel.
The family would like to give a special thanks to staff at Jacob’s House and Season’s Hospice, both of Springfield, for the loving care of Jimmie in his final days.
