Mary Frances "Francie Mills, 87, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005 after a long battle with a terrible cancer. Services will be 10 am Saturday, May 7th at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence; with interment in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 7 :30 pm at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Cancer Action. Francie was born February 26, 1918 to Prentice and Mabel Quigley and was a lifelong resident of Independence. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Alan E. Mills in 2001. She leaves behind her children, David Mills and wife Beth, Dennis Mills, Linda Howell and husband Rick; grandchildren, Alesia Langer and husband John, Patrick, Chris, Jason, Molly, Brian, and Nancy; great-grandchildren, Michael and Ryan as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved family of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, her cherished neighbors and friends who cared so much for her. She has been such an inspiration to so many, in that such a gentle person could endure so much suffering. It was important to her to be able to rejoice in the "Special Gift of Memories that so many lose as they age. She learned to use a computer in these final years, and spent many hours putting her stories in writing so that none of us forget. The family is very grateful to the caring doctors and nurses of KUMC, Cancer Action, and to the compassionate Kendallwood Hospice care givers in these final days.
