Sharolyn Louise (Spinner) Mineo
Sharolyn Louise Mineo departed this world to go home to her Lord January 27th, 2021. She was surrounded by loving family.
Sharolyn was born March 16, 1949 to George and Florence (Vest) Spinner in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Eugene Ware Elementary school through 6th grade before moving to Kansas City, Missouri, eventually attending Paseo High School and graduating in 1967.
During high school she worked at Sydney’s drive-in on the Country Club Plaza as a car hop & waitress. She had many stories about working there, one being waiting on Bert Parks who turned out to be a poor tipper.
In high school she met Gary and they were married a month after she graduated. The family expanded to four before they moved to Independence in 1972. Sharolyn was a wonderful wife and mother. She spent many hours taking her daughter to dance lessons, basketball and softball practices and games, her son to Cub Scout meetings, baseball and football practice and games and being a Pop Warner girl’s cheerleading coach.
She enjoyed dancing, listening to country music, ceramics, bowling, camping, fishing and, later, riding Harleys with Gary and a group of great friends through forty-seven states and Canada. She loved celebrating holidays surrounded by the ones she loved; she decorated the house for Christmas, and hosted family Christmas Eve and Day as well as awesome Christmas parties for the riding group. Everyone received “only one gift on Christmas Eve” … pajamas!
Sharolyn will be greatly missed and eternally loved. She is predeceased by her parents, step father James Cathy, sister Linda Stripling and brother Tim Spinner. She leaves her husband of 53 years Gary, son John and daughter Michelle (Richie) Helton, grandchildren Lachelle (Garrett) Stacy, Krysta (Wade) Middleton, Leeann Mineo (Isaiah Davis), Sonya McCaslin (Devin Brown), Ross Mineo, Jenna Mineo and John J. Mineo, great grandchildren Colton Bass, Cooper Middleton, Bently Davis, Mavryck Davis, Marcella Brown, Milah Brown, sister Glenda Becknal and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, from 6-8pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St in Independence. Regrettably, due to county restrictions, the funeral service on Wednesday will be closed to the public. She will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In honor of Sharolyn, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Online condolences and fond memories may be left at www.speakschapel.com, and a video recording of the service will be posted to her site after February 3.
