Martha Jane Minks (Lewis)

Martha Jane Minks, 80 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Northcare Hospice House. Services will be 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m., until service time Sunday at the chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Freeman Holsapple Cemetery near Collins, MO. Martha was born October 15, 1935 in Brownington, MO to Willie Harvey and Mildred Marie (Parks) Lewis. She worked as an Avon Salesperson for a number of years in the Kansas City area. She enjoyed puzzles, music and family time. Survivors include: 6 children, Hank Minks (Kathy), Dick Minks (Leslie), Susan Minks and kitty, Penney Clark (Steve), Cliff Minks (LeeAnn) and Nancy Atkinson; 3 sisters, AnnaLee James, Ethel Lewis and Helen Hatfield; a brother, Billy Dean Lewis; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, James C. “Bill” Minks, a daughter, Reeda Thompson in 2012, 2 sisters, Nellie and Dorothy and 4 brothers, Charles, Leroy, Edgar and Marvin.
