Dale Porter Minnis, 81, of Independence, went home to heaven on January 29th 2013. A visitation will be held from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. Friday, February 1st 2013 at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church; 15200 E 39th Street S, Independence, MO 64055. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the church. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 2nd at Blue Mound Cemetery, Blue Mound, MO.
Dale was born December 20th 1931 in Livingston County, MO to Milton P. and Velma F. (Crossley) Minnis. Dale married Esther Fern Pennington on November 30th 1950. Together they had three children. Dale proudly served in the Navy in the Korean Conflict. He worked as a meat cutter for A&P, Safeway, Food Barn, and Thriftway. Dale was a life long member of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church where he served the Lord in many roles including, deacon, trustee, and on several committees including the building committee. Dale’s life was to serve his Lord and be a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by wife, Esther of 62 years; children, Dale P Minnis, Jr.; Sheila K. Dotson (David G.); Pamela S. Whitesell (Steve W.) all of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Sean Minnis, Cody Minnis, Chelsea Zagalik, and Amanda Whitesell; and one great grandson, Carson Zagalik. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Shirley Wallace. In lieu of flowers the family encourages contributions to Sycamore Hills Baptist Building Fund; 15200 E 39th Street S.
